What Can I Do About It?

  1. Explain to your family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues the problems with 'free' trade.
  2. Buy locally made and fair trade products whenever possible: shop at neighbourhood stores instead of big box, chain, or dollar stores; buy your groceries from the local farmers' market and gifts at local craft fairs.
  3. Support political parties that are working for fair trade, not free trade.
  4. Lobby your city council and provincial government to buy local goods and services to support the local economy and the environment.
  5. Write to your local paper or post to your favourite blog calling for Canada's withdrawal from NAFTA and other free trade agreements.
